Founded on July 10 th 1997 with the aim of designing and manufacturing ambulances and special vehicles, ORION S.r.l. is constantly looking for solutions that are not only innovative but also highly functional, designed to improve the standard of safety and quality of environment .

Orion srl, a leading Company in the field of safety vehicles, has established a partnership with Next Technology, a research organization participated by MIUR (Ministry of Education, University and Research) which has developed know-how on nano-structured materials and photocatalytic processes.

The two companies carried out researches on innovative materials for the realization of biocide environments. This meant finding a new and higher performing sanitizing system to be applied to the revolutionary ORION solutions, already available, and to create active protection for staff and patients.

In the three years of collaboration various solutions were tested for the choice of titanium dioxide, a molecule which, under certain conditions, is able to make harmless elements into contaminants that are harmful to health.

The result of the experiments made it possible to make a modular biocide structure. This patent, unique in the world, later allowed a photocatalytic nanostructured surface to be achieved inside the first "antibacterial ambulance", presented in May 2011. The combined use of this structure with fluorescent full spectrum light is the basis of the new antibacterial PURE-HEALTH system.
